A note about Acupressure Weight Loss Benefits - DiscussionIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. Taking these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of certain holistic remedies. The appetite control point helps control the urge to overindulge. Located within the ear, it lies adjacent to the small fleshy protrusion of the ear above the earlobe at the opening to the ear canal. This protrusion can be found near where the upper and lower jaws meet when following the jaw line to the ear. As you open and close your mouth, you will feel movement below your fingertips. This is the jaw joint, and the protrusion is located directly adjacent. The pressure point lies on the inside edge of this protrusion. When locating this or any other pressure point, often a Meridian map or acupressure point diagram will prove helpful. Begin your acupressure weight loss session by stimulating the appetite control point. All points can be stimulated in a similar fashion. Press gradually and firmly, concentrating on the point and holding down for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Release the point, then immediately press again for the same amount of time. In effect, you are gently massaging the point. The pause between allows one to maintain concentration and avoid numbness in the area from too much consistent pressure. Repeat the process for a total of five times. Repeat on the opposite side of the body, unless the point falls along the bodys midline. Here is another useful acupressure weight loss point - the spleen point, a secondary point effective in weight control, regulates water metabolism in the body. Do not press this second point if you are pregnant. In acupressure texts, it will often be labeled Spleen 6. Specifically, the point lies on the inside of the leg, four fingers width above the tip of the ankle bone, within the groove behind the shin bone. You will locate the point by flexing your foot up and down, and feeling the muscle beneath your fingers move. Many acupressure therapists consider the point one of the most important on the body. The point also relaxes and soothes, assists the body in nourishment absorption, and stimulates digestion, all of which can be beneficial during a weight loss program. Spleen 9 is yet another useful acupressure weight loss point, and it lies in the groove behind the shin bone. One can locate it by scanning about three fingers width below the level of the knee crease, on the inner surface of the leg just below the bulge at the top of the bone. This point often feels especially tender (the equivalent of the funny bone in the knee area), stimulation of this point helps to rid the body of excess fluid retention. Locate Stomach 36 by moving your fingers to the front of the knee, four fingers width below the bottom edge of the kneecap and one fingers width to the outside of the shin bone. This point tones the digestive system, reducing fatigue and increasing energy. Any digestive problems (such as heartburn and indigestion) can be relived by massaging this point. Large intestine 11 can be found at the end of the elbow crease when you bend your arm, on the inside of the arm (along the line of the thumb). Massage of the point cools the body and reduces blood pressure, a common ailment in overweight people. This makes this a useful acupressure weight loss point. Liver 3 allows chi (energy) to flow freely throughout the body. Locate it by placing your fingers on top of the foot, in the intersection between the bones leading to the big toes and the second toe. Press the sole of the foot at the same time, using your index finger and thumb. Feelings of tension, frustration or stress will melt away when you stimulate this point. Three minutes of intense pressure as previously described should be applied to each of these useful acupressure weight loss points for best effect. The session can be rounded out with a few relaxation techniques, and with final stimulation of the appetite control point.
