Point to note - lobelia, when taken in excess, can also cause one to throw up. If a teaspoonful causes nausea, cut back on the dosage at first.

It is also said that the leaves and flowers of the lobelia plant, too, have powerful antispasmodic effects on the lungs when they are smoked. Some persons who suffer from asthma can thus actually experience relief by smoking them when spasms strike - this is another interesting remedy for an asthma attack.

Lobelia is also said to be useful for other bronchial or spasmodic-related issues.

Another possible asthma attack home remedy is the use of a valerian decoction, with some cayenne added to the mix, to help relieve spasms.
