A note about Discussing Sex and YogaIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. Taking these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of certain holistic remedies. Yogic asanas and pranayama (breathing exercises) provide help in arriving at this optimum state of health. In fact, yoga can be so strong that people whose bodies are too weak to function sexually, even those who are partially or fully impotent, may get back their sexual ability as their bodies heal physically through the practice of yoga. Another link between sex and yoga is that yoga relaxes the mind, and a relaxed state of being is one of the most important requisites of enjoying healthy and fulfilling sex. When one is in a state of anxiety or worry, it is difficult to enjoy sex, and feelings of irritation or dissatisfaction often result. These, of course, hamper any possibility of a healthy sexual relationship. In addition, some people are nervous about sexual encounters and issues, and these people can be helped using yoga breathing practices and exercises. As per yogic principles, sexual secretions contain the elixir or seeds of life or (prana) which is concentrated life energy and nutrients. If there is depletion in life energy, vitality levels and immunity to diseases will automatically diminish. Yoga helps the practitioner in maintaining a controlled and joyful, fulfilling sexual life. One of the branches of yoga, Kundalini Yoga deals with harnessing sexual power. Yoga provides the clarity of mind and a body brimming with vitality so that one can have meaningful relationships and enjoy the joy of sex. Finally, in concluding this article on sex and yoga, let us be reminded that, while sex plays an important part of a happy and fulfilling life as well as of a loving relationship, one should not overindulge. That can lead to a loss or decrease of life force energy.
