A note about Natural Sinusitis Relief - Treatments and RemediesIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies. About Sinusitis Sinusitis is the inflammation of at least one of the two hollow spaces of the cheek bone or the two spaces of the forehead known as the sinus cavities. Short of sinus surgery, sinusitis is conventionally treated with antihistamines, antibiotics, steroid nasal sprays, or decongestants, which are to some extent effective but deal only with symptoms and not underlying causes. Sinusitis is an infection and occurs when one or more of the four cavities become inflamed because of the blockage of one of the ostium tubes. These tubes, where mucus from the sinuses drain, are attached to the nasal passages and are most susceptible after a cold, a pollution irritation of some sort, or an allergy attack. This in turn causes congestion, then infection, and ultimately increased pressure and facial pain. There are two types of sinusitis - acute and chronic, which can be caused by bacteria (usually causes worse symptoms), fungus or viruses. Acute sinusitis lasts about three weeks and is generally the result of the flu or a cold attacking the sinuses. Chronic sinusitis, on the other hand, affecting one of every seven Americans, lasts longer than three weeks, continuing indefinitely and generally caused by allergens. If left unattended, chronic sinusitis can cause a degeneration of the mucus membranes. A weakened immune system or fungus can also be the underlying cause.
About Sinusitis Relief It is reported that 9 of the 10 people going to the doctor for sinus infection are prescribed antibiotics for sinusitis relief; however, if it is a virus or an allergen (pollutant) attacking the sinuses, the antibiotics will have no effect. What actually happens due to this abuse of antibiotics is an adaptation of the bacteria as it builds up a resistance to these medications. One of the well known sinusitis relief remedies, called nasal irrigation, involves cleaning sinuses with a mild saline solution. Its purpose is to clean the mucus from the passages in order to restore the natural airways. This type of treatment has been practiced for centuries. Steam inhalers (humidifiers) are another method by which the sinusitis sufferer can get relief. This treatment for sinusitis relief works by increasing the moisture in the nose, and this aids in the reduction of inflammation. For those who suffer sinusitis due to allergies or pollutants, the use of air purifiers can help to alleviate such factors as dust, pet dander, or second hand smoke. It also greatly aids those who live in a smoke-filled environment. If you smoke yourself, every effort should be taken to stop, as this habit plays an important part in how your body is affected by infections that attack the respiratory system. Several Chinese herbs, including Echinacea, are good, as is lemon balm tea, or lemon juice in a cup of warm water and sweetened with a teaspoon of honey. Possibly one of the greatest ways we can aid the body in standing against infection of any kind is a diet aimed at providing the body with the vitamins and minerals that it needs. This ensures that our built-in immune system can function to the best of its ability - this is the best method of both sinusitis relief and prevention.
