A note about Toothache Home Remedies for Natural ReliefIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies. Toothaches are caused by cavities, cracks in the teeth, gum disease, or diseases involving the jaw or an exposed tooth root, with the main focus on tooth decay (most common cause). Toothache pain can range from an annoying ache to sharp and / or excruciating. Smaller cavities may cause little to no pain and go virtually unnoticed, while larger cavities can be deep enough to collect food debris, resulting in a fair amount of discomfort. The pulp, the inner living part of the tooth, can become aggravated by bacteria, toxins or foods that are extreme, including hot, cold, sweet, or sour, as this is where the tooth's nerves and blood supply are found. Toothaches often happen without warning, and when an immediate trip to the dentist is impossible, toothache home remedies are the natural alternative. Probably the most popular of these is the cotton ball soaked with brandy placed against the tooth (or swig of whiskey) to numb it. While this is great for those who like to drink, its effectiveness lasts only about 30 minutes. Garlic is among the most popular toothache home remedies. A single clove with a pinch of rock salt on the tooth will relieve pain in a relatively short period of time. Chew a clove a day for maintenance, especially if a trip to the dentist is not an option at the time. This is also true for the onion as well. It has antibacterial properties and can protect the mouth against many tooth disorders. A small piece of onion can be placed on the bad tooth for toothache relief within a few minutes. Another of the good toothache home remedies is clove, which has properties that can reduce pain as well as antiseptic abilities to help combat an infection. Essential clove oil can be applied directly to a cavity for quick relief, while oil of oregano is an effective remedy because of the antimicrobial potential which is able to come against food-borne pathogens. Wheat grass can be chewed to draw out toxins and keep bacterial growth in check - this is another useful home natural remedy. Diet plays an important role as far as dental care goes. Tooth decay along with the infection of gums or the destruction of the jawbone can be prevented with the right diet. Whole foods (raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds) are high fiber and their roughage helps remove plaque. Thus, in your use of toothache home remedies, your food choices cannot be ignored. Herbs, too, can play an important role in the taming of a toothache, and herbal remedies cannot be forgotten in your search for toothache home remedies. Traditional herbs used for swelling and inflammation of the tissues and joints surrounding the teeth include myrrh, ginger, boswella and corydalis. Together, they also do very well to relieve pain. Belladonna can be used for throbbing pain; a tea can be made with the whole calendula or chamomile flowers for pain; and calendula will aid in tissue healing. Use ten drops of myrrh tincture in water as a gargle for pain. It is also an anti-bacterial agent. The tincture of St. John's wort works quickly for tooth nerve pain.
